Here are a few suggestions of local gardens & parks for those that enjoy a leisurely day out and are looking for something a little different to the theme parks.


 


 

 

Arboretum, University of Central Florida 

An arboretum and botanical garden covering 80 acres (32 hectares), containing more than 600 species of plants (including more than 100 bromeliads)

in cultivated gardens. Its cultivated areas currently include a Conservatory Compound, a Bromeliad Sanctuary, Cycad Garden, Fern Garden, Palm Collection, Rose Garden, Swamp Habitat, and Wetland Plants Display.

The Bok Tower Gardens

 

Also known as  Bok Mountain Lake Sanctuary and Singing Tower features acres of intricately landscaped gardens filled with an exotic array of flowers and trees. The gardens are home to a colony of wood ducks and many other wild birds. In the middle of the gardens sits the Bok Tower, with its 60-bell carillon playing music daily

Downtown Kissimmee

Downtown Kissimmee offers a mix of historic structures and landmarks, new and old family-owned businesses, shops, local artists galley and shops, and restaurants bordering the scenic Lake Toho and wild habitat. Home to Kissimmee Amtrak Station. Relax and scroll around the peaceful lake or take the kids to the playground, Downtown Kissimmee is a hidden gem waiting to be found.

Mead Botanical Garden 

Mead Botanical Garden is a 48-acre urban oasis located in the heart of Orange County in beautiful Winter Park.

The park that offers a variety of facilities including an amphitheater, butterfly garden, boardwalk, and a bike trail 

The Garden is OPEN DAILY from dawn until dusk and is FREE to the public.
